  • 2024 Craft Fair Vendor Table-Early Bird Specials

    Calling all Crafters to participate in the 2024 St. Louis Park Senior Program Craft Fair at Lenox Community Center! Date: November 2, 2024 Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m Early Bird Pricing Booth Fees (all tables will have approximately 2 feet of additional space and up to 2 chairs provided at no cost): Are you looking for a premium location? This option includes (1) 6 foot table. There are 5 available spaces; $55 before June 30, 2024 and $60 after July 1, 2024. These tables will be located near the entrance of Lenox. Do you need extra table space? This option includes (2) 6 foot tables. There are 7 available spaces; $40 before June 30, 2024 and $45 after July 1, 2024. These tables will be located the first classroom (Room 115-Craft Room) off the main entrance of Lenox. Are you looking for a standard table and space? This option includes (1) 6 foot table. There are 22 spaces available. $25 before June 30, 2024 and $30 after July 1, 2024 These tables will be located throughout the main floor of Lenox. *Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on October 11, 2024 Important Details and Reminders: - The Craft Fair will be held on the first floor at Lenox Community Center. - We will have concessions and a cash machine on site. - Lenox will provide all tables with up to 2 chairs at each station. **Bringing any additional tables or display stands that do not fit on top of or behind the provided table will not be allowed. - All vendors are responsible for hauling, setting up and taking down their product. There will be very limited assistance and carts available for set up and take down. Setup will be available Friday evening from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. or Saturday morning from 8 - 9:30 a.m. All vendors must be set up by 9:30 a.m. in order to participate.     The 55+ Driver Discount Program is a state approved accident prevention/insurance discount class that is open to the public. This class provides you with a 10% savings on your automobile insurance premiums for 3 years! It is taught by a certified instructor from MN Highway Safety & Research Center and it provides the latest information in regards to driver and traffic safety, new laws, and vehicle technology. This class has something for everyone! You MUST register by phone at 1-888-234-1294 or online at www.driverdiscountprogram.com, do not register through St. Louis Park Community Education. The fee for the 8-hour initial class is $28 and the 4-hour refresher class is $24. Pre-registration is required. *First time participants must complete the initial 8-hour class to receive the discount and should take a 4-hour refresher class every three years after this to maintain their discount.

    What happens when we die? Are our loved ones at peace? What do they want us to know? Bring your questions and experiences and we'll talk. Instructor, Victoria has lived through several near-death experiences and communicated with Spirit since childhood. Join us online! This class will be held online using Zoom. Upon registration, you will receive a link to access the class, simply click the link on the day and times of class and Victoria will lead you from the comfort of your own home.     Adult Pickleball - Beginner Instruction

    Pickleball - Beginner Instruction: Get some exercise and have some fun with the fastest growing sport in the U.S. Come learn the basics of serving, dink shots, drive shots, and volleys. Learn the terminology, rules and scoring system. And why do they call it Pickleball anyway? We will have paddles, balls, and nets to use. Bring your own paddle if you prefer. April-August classes will be held outdoors when the weather is nice at the St. Louis Park Middle School tennis courts and in the gym at Lenox Community Center if the weather is bad.     Adult Pickleball - Intermediate Instruction

    Want to take your Pickleball to the next level? We will explore the strategy of the game including court positioning, varying your shot selection, and working in tandem with your partner. You will learn the importance of "third shot drop" and bring your dinking game to the next level. We will have paddles, balls, and nets to use. Bring your own paddle if you prefer.

    Adventures in Knitting

    Join us for our very own knitter's workshop! Students can choose from four projects. You bring the yarn and needles and the teacher, Lara Neel, will bring the patterns and make sure that you have a great time making a project you will treasure or love to give as a gift! This class is perfect for knitters of all levels, even if you've taken a break from knitting for several years or are trying it for the first time. If you're confused by the material list or have questions about the projects, please email Lara and she will get you started. Projects to choose from: 1. Hat (great for beginners) – about 220 yards of worsted-weight yarn and two set of size 7 needles: a 16-inch circular and double-pointed needles. 2. Slippers – about 380 yards of worsted-weight yarn and size 9 needles, any type of needle is fine. 3. Baby Sweater – about 220 yards of worsted-weight yarn and a set of size 10 needles, any type of needle is fine. 4. Mittens – about 120 yards of worsted-weight yarn and a set of size 6 double-pointed needles.

    Art Class: The Healing Art of Mandalas

    Students will learn about the meaning of mandalas. They will work with provided images and they will create their own personal mandalas. For first class, please bring a few sheets of drawing or mixed media paper and your choice of coloring pencils, or any type of markers, pens, crayons and a notebook. We will discuss more specific options in class.

    Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day

    Save lots of money, increase your kitchen expertise, and enjoy fresh bread every day with this simple bread dough that you store in the refrigerator and bake on your schedule. In class make a batch of dough to take home, get recipes for several artisan bread options, and sample a variety of breads. Bring a 4 quart mixing bowl with cover, a set of measuring cups and spoons, and a large mixing spoon to class. Demonstration, hands-on and tasting. You will leave class with a batch of bread dough and a warm loaf of bread that you make and bake in class. $9 supply fee payable to instructor in class. Carol Schaub, an avid “kitchen-creator”, is a skilled instructor who thinks time in the kitchen should always be a fun and creative time.

    This is not your parents post career life! Baby Boomers are retiring at a rate of more than 10,000 per day and they have high expectations of longevity and engagement. For those with retirement in the headlights there may be expectations based more on how it has been marketed to us than the truth we will experience. For those with retirement in the rear-view mirror there may be a sense that “something is missing”. We will explore the historical impact on expectations and provide discussion and actionable steps one can take to build a post career life filled with purpose and growth. The course will also include an interactive element to allow personal experiences and stories to be shared in a group setting.

    Baklava is a traditional pastry dessert that is known for its sweet, rich flavor and flaky texture. Join us in this hands-on interactive class where you will cook virtually with Instructor Mimi, who is passionate about cooking. You will learn how to prepare a flavorful but easy Baklava dessert and you get to bake it in your own oven following your instructor’s guidelines. Join us at this travel show where we will highlight our next two trips and answer all of your questions about these trips and traveling with Collette. Pacific Northwest & California Travel dates: April 14 - 21, 2024 Registration deadline: Friday, October 13, 2023 The tour begins in Seattle, Washington, the "Emerald City", where you'll meet the group and explore the historic Pioneer Square, Pike Place Market, and take the ferry across Puget Sound to on your way to Mount St. Helens.     Be a part of enhancing our community by joining a new club. The Community Service Club is a joint program with St. Louis Park Community Education Adult Programs and Project SOAR to give us an opportunity to work together to serve and give back to our community. Each month we will be focusing on a different project. This course doesn't have a required registration fee but we have a suggested donation amount and other options to donate what you can to help us purchase materials for the projects. March 20th - 7-8pm: Meet at Lenox Community Center April 17th - 7-8pm: Meet at Lenox Community Center May 15th - 7-8pm: Meet at Lenox Community Center June 12th - 4:45-6:30pm: Meet at Feed My Starving Children: Join us as we package and label nutritious meals for children and families around the world. Please arrive on time and wear comfortable clothing and shoes. There will be a variety of tasks to help with and every meal packed is another kid fed and lives saved. July 24th - 6:30-7:30pm: Meet at Westwood Hills Nature Center: Support local spaces and conservation of our natural habitat found at Westwood Hills. Feel bird feeders, help with light cleaning and more to keep this community spot a welcome environment.     Conversational American Sign Language

    Did you know that American Sign Language is the third most used language in America? A vital tool for those who interact with the deaf and hard of hearing, signing has an expressive beauty all its own. In this series of courses, you'll begin with a vocabulary of 200 signs. Courses are designed to be taken sequentially, with subsequent courses reviewing and reinforcing your previous learning. With fun games and lots of emphasis on practice, you will be well on your way to conversing with signs. This class is also great for anyone regularly interacting with the general public. Instructor Susan Hagel, M.S., is a certified therapeutic recreation specialist and has taught American Sign Language for more than 35 years.
