2025-2026 Early Learning Preschool classes at the Central Early Learning Center.
We offer Early Childhood Screenings at the Central Early Learning Center.
Kids Place provides exceptional child care options for working families. As part of St. Louis Park Public Schools, we share the district’s commitment to provide children a safe, nurturing environment that energizes and enhances the spirit.
This class is intended for those beginning carving as well as those who have some experience and wish to challenge themselves, it is an excellent class for a parent/grandparent and child to share a craft making experience (Min age 14 yr old when accompanied by a paying adult). Participants will work in small groups to allow each carver the opportunity to receive ample individual guidance from the instructor.
Carvers may select items they wish to carve from an assortment of wood blanks and cut-outs. These include simple items such as goldfish and Grumpy/Happy cat faces, as well as those more complex such as gnomes, mushrooms and songbirds.
The use of a knife, cut-resistant glove, brushes and paints will be provided for use during class.
An ample supply of wood blocks and cut-outs will be available for carvers to complete multiple carvings at no additional cost. Age requirement: 14+
John Hein began wood carving song and shore birds, both in full and tree ornament size, in 1984. Since moving to Minnesota his carvings have expanded to include Gnomes and Santas. He blends the influence of Scandinavian, Germany and Minnesotan artcraft to create unique Christmas ornaments. He lives in St Louis Park and carves full-time at John Hein Woodcarver.
