Martial Arts Classes help seniors sharpen cognitive functions such as memory, executive reasoning, and problem-solving capabilities, all while improving skills needed for longevity including balance, strength, and coordination. The best way to learn is by having fun, and you can expect lots of laughter in this 45-minute class! Together, we practice ancient Filipino martial arts movements, working both empty-handed and also incorporating maneuvers with gentle foam sticks. Each class includes a thorough warm-up, cooldown, stretching, and builds from the last so that you feel progression and self-confidence in your ability level. Classes are designed for all ability levels and can be taken standing or seated, or a combination of both. Come and join us for some martial arts fun!

Teaching martial arts to seniors, and helping them to improve their fitness levels while improving cognitive ability, is my passion! As an instructor at the Minnesota Kali Group, I teach martial arts to all levels, from people taking their very first class to coaching fighters. I also teach general fitness classes at senior living facilities through Live 2b Healthy. I’m bilingual and comfortable teaching in either Spanish or English, and with teaching to those with different ability levels. For nearly a decade, I’ve been training 5 days a week in varied martial arts disciplines, including kali, panetukan, JKD and muay thai. I can’t wait to share what I know with your community!
