    Art Class: The Healing Art of Mandalas

    Students will learn about the meaning of mandalas. They will work with provided images and they will create their own personal mandalas. For first class, please bring a few sheets of drawing or mixed media paper and your choice of coloring pencils, or any type of markers, pens, crayons and a notebook. We will discuss more specific options in class.

    This is not your parents post career life! Baby Boomers are retiring at a rate of more than 10,000 per day and they have high expectations of longevity and engagement. For those with retirement in the headlights there may be expectations based more on how it has been marketed to us than the truth we will experience. For those with retirement in the rear-view mirror there may be a sense that “something is missing”. We will explore the historical impact on expectations and provide discussion and actionable steps one can take to build a post career life filled with purpose and growth. The course will also include an interactive element to allow personal experiences and stories to be shared in a group setting.

    Baklava

    Baklava is a traditional pastry dessert that is known for its sweet, rich flavor and flaky texture. Join us in this hands-on interactive class where you will cook virtually with Instructor Mimi, who is passionate about cooking. You will learn how to prepare a flavorful but easy Baklava dessert and you get to bake it in your own oven following your instructor’s guidelines.     Glitter, sequins, and jewels, oh my! We will be-dazzle all the art projects we craft in this camp. We'll make tons of sparkly projects including; bracelets, glittery snow globes, and a jewelry box. We will even glitter-fy our fingernails! The kids will learn different art terms and techniques as they work with air-dry clay, Model Magic, watercolors, and more dazzling art supplies. The students are welcome to bring their own age-appropriate music to camp so they can listen to their favorite tunes while they bling it on!
