Explore the evolving conversation around sexual orientation and gender identity in this engaging and informative course. Participants will gain a clear understanding of these concepts and how they differ, with a focus on the historical and social experiences of LGBTQIA communities in the U.S. Led by Paul Blom, a nationally recognized advocate for older adults and founding board member of Training to Serve, the course highlights the unique needs and challenges faced by LGBTQIA individuals, especially as they age.
Paul received his Bachelor of Arts from Luther College and coursework toward his Masters of Divinity at Wartburg Theological. Since 2001 Paul and his husband, Bob, have owned and operated Right at Home – In Home Care & Assistance for seniors in the Twin Cities. Paul was among the founding board members of Training to Serve, the curriculum to train senior service providers on the unique needs and barriers of the aging LGBT Community. Paul currently serves as Treasurer of the Minneapolis Area Senior Workers Association and Chair of the annual Fall Aging Conference. Additionally, Paul is chair of the board of Avenues for Youth.
