Bring nature indoors and create your very own miniature garden! In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn everything you need to know to design and build a beautiful terrarium. We’ll start with how to choose the right plants that thrive in enclosed or open environments, from moisture-loving ferns and mosses to hardy succulents. You’ll also learn how to select the perfect container—whether it’s a glass jar, vase, or repurposed bowl—to showcase your living creation. We’ll explore the different substrates used in terrarium building, including gravel, charcoal, soil, and decorative moss. You’ll discover how to mix and layer soil properly to ensure good drainage and long-term plant health. Finally, we’ll cover how to water, feed, and provide the right light for your plants so your terrarium stays healthy and vibrant. By the end of the class, you’ll take home your own custom-made terrarium and the confidence to create more mini gardens on your own. All materials provided—just bring your creativity and love of plants!
My Buan-Bertucci is a Master Gardener with a lifelong passion for houseplants and indoor gardening. Specializing in tropical and rare species, My has cultivated an impressive collection and loves sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with others. She enjoys teaching people how to grow, propagate, and care for plants—helping new gardeners discover the joy of bringing greenery into their homes.
My has taught classes throughout the Twin Cities, covering topics from introductory houseplant care to advanced techniques like tissue culture. She’s also the creator of Juju Plant Juice, a natural fertilizer now sold nationwide. Known for her friendly teaching style and depth of expertise, My makes every class both educational and inspiring for plant lovers of all experience levels.
