The HOPE Speaks Project (Grades 3-5)

Youth Enrichment / Brain Builders -
Fall 2020

Are you trying to raise a racially conscious child but struggle with how to do it? The HOPE Speaks Project is a way to begin an important dialogue on race, racism, and the impact it has on our lives. It is an opportunity to engage in difficult but meaningful conversations with our children, friends, family, and community. We would like to invite families to engage in Honest, Open, Personal, and Engaged (HOPE) conversations as a way to unpack how race operates as an often unspoken presence in our lives. During this weekly class parents and children will explore topics around race together: Parents and children will also be separated part of the time to dig into the impact of our racial identities at age-appropriate levels.

For students in grades 3-5 with their parents.

Student portion of the class will be from 6:30-7:15 pm and adult portion of the class will be from 7:15-9:00 pm.

*Please only register one participant per family, you will be asked to list names of those attending during the registration process. Thank you!*

**If you are willing and able to, please consider contributing to pay for an additional family to register. If you'd like to do so, contact Kelleen at obrion.kelleen@slpschools.org or 952-926-6399**

If you are family who would like to participate, but would need a scholarship, please contact Kelleen at obrion.kelleen@slpschools.org or 952-928-6399.
