Argentine Tango For Your Health
Come and participate in Passport to Live’s“Dance for Your Health” program at the Lenox Center, and learn an exciting, fun, beautiful, elegant dance…Argentine Tango. Dancing Argentine Tango provides significant health benefits by improving your balance, mobility, and mental acuity. It may also improve your confidence on the dance floor, and it just happens to be fun and quite social. These sessions are specifically designed for seniors as well as persons with neurological disorders (such as Parkinson’s) and their caregivers, and persons with Alzheimer’s. Everyone and all skill levels are welcome. No partner is required. No preregistration necessary. Drop in and pay at the door: $2 nonmember/ $1 member per time.
Since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2011, Len Mathe has participated in the 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 MN Senior Olympics, and 2017 AZ Senior Olympics as well as the the 2015 National Senior Games. He has earned 7 Gold, 7 Silver and 5 Bronze from his participation. Len also participates as an active Argentine Tango, swing, and ballroom dancer, as a research subject for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD., as a member of the NPF MN (National Parkinson's Foundation - Minnesota) advisory board and the VA (Veteran's Administration) advisory panel. Len also assists in the Lakeville Yellow Ribbon program for veterans and deployed soldier's families and as a mentor to the Hennepin County Veteran's Court.
