Going Zero Waste

A crash course in how to become zero waste, a lifestyle that produces little to no garbage. Do you ever glance at your waste basket and wonder how you’ve made so much trash? Learn fun and creative ways to become a more environmentally friendly individual while saving money along the way. These everyday tips and tricks are incredibly easy; anyone can do it!

Instructors

Kimberly Erickson

Kim is a world traveler and environment enthusiast. She received a B.A Degree in Travel and Tourism from St. Cloud State University. Following graduation, Kim began a career in New York in the airline industry, and spent her free time traveling the world. Kim also spent time living in South Africa working with at risk youth. Kim now enjoys caring for her “urban farm”, including honey bees, chickens, and vegetable garden.

For the past two years Kim and Ashley have embarked on a Zero Waste lifestyle journey. They founded a closed Facebook group and began blogging their journey, along with a group of followers. Ashley and Kim have also completed the Recycling Champions course presented by St. Louis Park. During Kim’s zero waste journeys, she was able to limit her waste to two garbage bags in an entire year.


Ashley Kennedy

Ashley is a former Special Education Teacher and is currently completing a Masters in Literacy Education at St. Mary’s University. In addition to running a part time wedding coordinating business, Ashley spends most of her time with her three young children.
